Last February - in the course of various modernizations of its machinery range - GEIGER integrated into production lines a new turn/mill center from the Traub Company. The Traub TNL32-9 is preferably used for the manufacturing of the GEIGER worm gears and sets new standards for high-performance machining.
The TNL32-9 weighs more than seven tons. The heavy parts were transported on a truck-trailer and a heavy-lift crane was specially ordered for unloading. Within three working days, the GEIGER machinery experts set up the new turn/mill center in the metal processing hall.
The TNL32-9 has nine linear axes so that the workpieces can be processed in a highly flexible, efficient and reliable way. Two turrets with ten tools each are integrated in the working area, allowing numerous configurations within a small space. Two tools can operate simultaneously and independently. A large sliding door ensures trouble-free change-over and set-up procedures. A bar feeder can supply enough stock for a machine to run a full shift without intervention so that the third production shift at GEIGER can be operated unmanned.
With the TLN32-9 GEIGER continues to focus on high-quality drives combined with a high level of vertical integration.
